3 Ways To Create Your Own Lane Like Megan Thee Stallion

We are in the midst of a hot girl summer, and rising star Megan Thee Stallion is driving the boat.

This Houston native is raising eyebrows with her sensual style and unapologetic sex positive lyrics that challenge misogyny. Her breakout song “Big Ole Freak” landed her first entry on the Billboard Hot 100 list and she’s just getting started.

Hot Girl Meg is empowering women and men to own their identity and embrace their sensuality. While she may not be everyone’s cup of tea, we can all learn from this beauty.

Here are three ways that Megan Thee Stallion inspires us to create our own lane:

“It’s not just about being sexy, it’s about being confident and me being confident in my sexuality.”  – Megan Thee Stallion in Pitchfork

Megan’s sex-appeal stems from her confidence. Standing at 5’10’, she adopted her stage name after being referred to as a stallion in high school due to her height and beauty.

Like Megan, find ways to play up what makes you who you are to be more confident. You were intentionally designed the way you are — own that sh*t!

“I want to show other girls how happy I am and how confident I am, how I still want to go to school and I still want to rap. I just want to be like a good example to somebody in the future.”  Megan Thee Stallion in The Source

Meg balances her rising rap career with being a full-time student at Texas Southern University, where she is pursuing a degree in health administration. Due to her demanding travel schedule, she’s now enrolled in online courses at TSU, but it’s clear that education is important to Thee Stallion. She aspires to use her degree to open assisted living facilities in H-Town.

She understands the struggle to pay for college, so she created the “Cognac Queen Pageant” to award a $2,500 scholarship to a deserving student. Meg hopes to bring these pageants to other cities to help more Hotties pay for their education.

There are so many people who can benefit from you walking in your purpose, so find ways to use your platform to make a difference.

“[A Hot Girl Summer] is about women and men being unapologetically them, just having a good-ass time, hyping up their friends, doing you, and not giving a damn about what people say about you. You definitely have to be a person who can be the life of the party and just a bad b*tch.” – Megan Thee Stallion in The Root

Thee Stallion’s charisma and carefree attitude draw in her fan base of Hotties. She’s breaking barriers and showing that you can be educated and ratchet. You can also use your platform to pursue your passions.

In June 2019, Meg organized a “Hottie Beach Cleanup” at the Santa Monica Pier and hundreds of her fans showed up to help the environment. The project was inspired by a question the rapper received on Twitter about climate change.

What matters to you? You don’t have to center your career around this passion per se, but you can follow in Megan’s footsteps and create opportunities to do what you love more and get your tribe to join in.

Cheers, Hotties! How are you having a “Hot Girl (or Boy) Summer?”
